Hi! I recently purchased and built an Openbuilds lead cnc. I love it! I'm trying to machine a few parts that contain M3 holes. Technically I should be able to cut a 3.3mm diameter hole with a 3.175mm or 1/8in end mill right? Using HSMWorks (Fusion 360 CAM in SolidWorks), I can't get the software to mill the 3.3mm hole unless I use a much smaller 1/16in end mill. This is really small especially because I'm cutting a 2ft x 2ft sheet of quarter inch aluminum. I tried to use the Openbuilds CAM software but it just wont import my DXFs properly. I opened the DXFs in autocad and they open just fine there. Any tips for what end mills I should use?
set the radial stock to leave to 0 the default for the bore operation has some stock to leave as a percentage of bit diameter, but you dont have room for that much so it fails to generate the operation.
Not sure how to do that in SolidWorks. I'll try importing to AutoCad and exporting from there. Thanks!
Correct, sometimes you need an intermediary step See docs:software:file-errors [OpenBuilds Documentation]
