I have a Workbee 1050 and use Fusion 360 with post processor of Openbuilds CNC: GRBL/Blackbox. Everytime I start a project in Fusio I have to go to the Post Process settings and change the "End of Job Z position" from -10 to 0. Is there anyway of making this a default for this post process? If I don't change it then my router gouges out my board. thanks Mike
Hi Mike, did you ever find a solution to this problem. The G53 is messing with my machine as well. I suspect the problem is that the machine zero is not set correctly. G53 -10 is meant to take Z to 10 mm below home Z ( the 10 is to avoid triggering the home switch alarm ). However I'm not sure how to configure the machine coordinates. Homing is supposed to do that, but I don't know if you have to do it each time you turn on the machine.

Yes, home everytime that Power was off Aborted Alarm/error Any action or crash that made machine lose position Want to re-establish physical workspace (if unsure, rehome) All offsets like "work zero", G28, G30, G54-59 etc are all offset from machine coordinates. Rehoming sets machine coordinates, thus putting all the other stored offsets back in place
Sorry, but I have still not figured out why Fusion still ignores and still has the -10. I still manually set it to 0. I moved on to use Lightburn with my new laser on my Openbuilds and it works great. When I get back to Fusion, I will worry about it again. Sorry
Setting it to 0 should hit your limit switch. If you need that extra clearance set it to -4 or something. And I'm assuming you're doing this in the post processor settings and that you're using the OB post processor.
My problem was in Fusion when I Post Process under properties it says "End of Job position" -10 for each XY and Z. So that gets written in the Code. I am using an Openbuilds 1050. Every thing works great, its just annoying to remember to set those 3 entries to 0.
If homing is set up correctly, nothing should need to be changed. Did you read the thread I linked, because the behavior sounds similar? The issue isn't with Fusion if a machine crashes with a G53 G0 Z-10 command unless it literally has less than 10mm of available Z travel (which last I checked, the WorkBees do not). In other words, you're trying to Band Aid a symptom instead of curing the actual disease. It's pointless unless you're up against a deadline, and just going to cause more frustration later.
Also, the post processor should save your settings from the last time you posted. The only time it resets is when you use a new processor file or update the processor (I have to double check on the update).
When you say "if homing is setup correctly".....My issue is within Fusion, before I even connect any cables to the CNC. I design a new project set my machine to the 1050, assign a bit and Post Process all within Fusion. That is where I get the -10s.
Okay. Going back to your original post. Fusion will remember any changes you make to your post processor settings. It will change those values from green to blue. I've tried to reproduce your issue by loading other files and cant. So unless Fusion has limited this remembering of the property settings with the free version, I'm at a loss. As far as "if homing is setup correctly". Z-10 in most cases is completely fine. The only time it becomes and issue is when your bit wont clear your stock and you have to adjust it. The fact that you say setting it to 0 works is concerning since Z0 should trip your limit switch.
