Im new to this program and not sure how to fix this issue. anything i bring into a program it seems to invert it no matter what, the invert bottom has a check mark and when i click it, it does nothing. For example i had a heart and it inverted so instead of having the CNC cut out the whole heart it will make it only the outside edge of it. im trying to to get it to cut out the inside of it. How do i do this?
There are many CAM applications, so please specify what you are using, and export the workspace/file from your CAM or at least screenshots so we can see what you have set up for toolpaths
OK so, OpenBuildsCAM CAM uses Vectors, you are trying to load a Bitmap (not ideal). It gets traced to a Vector (best effort). You then, select the Vector, and add it to a Toolpath. In the toolpath, you tell it how you want to cut it... That's Invert Selection, Ie, deselect whats currently selected, and select everything that wasn't selected. Used when you have a drawing with multiple vector entities Correct, it "traced" your bitmap to a vector, you need Vectors to plan a path from. See docs:software:file-errors [OpenBuilds Documentation] 1) Select the vector using the mouse in the 3D View 2) add to a new toolpath 3) Tell it what to do: Specifiying endmills, feedrates, cut depths etc too of course and, click Apply and 1,2,3: Done: Generate gcode, check the 3D view if you are happy, and send to CONTROL
Thank you so much for the help, I understand what you are saying about that part but also, if I wanted to engrave out the whole heart in the wood how would I do that, like not just the outside part like the whole inside to make it not a traced heart but a full engraved heart, how would I get it to not trace and engrave the whole heart?
A better example is that I’m trying to engrave a lake into a board then fill with epoxy but when it’s tracing it’s only doing the outline which I can’t use to engrave out a lake and fill with epoxy
Select POCKET as the Type of Cut Play around in there, the 3D view will tell you what you are doing...
