Figuring x,y,z travel and work area?

    Hi,
    I'm still working - learning to model things up on computer and it will be a bit before I'm done. So till then would this be accurate way to estimate.
    Example: OB c beam plate maker says x travel 13.5, y 11 with 500mm length and 1.25 work (cut) height with a 250 mm z.

    Can I assume the areas would increase in size = to increase in length because all other deductions are factored in already? Assuming frame desing is same other than length?

    If I understand what you are saying, I believe that is a safe assumption.

    For X and Y, the amount you have to subtract is the size of your gantry plates. Then if you have other things mounted such as limit switches, you may loose additional distance if they too are in the way of travel. Endmill diameter can play a small part, as well. Basically, if you have a 500 mm X axis but use 200 mm wide gantry plates, you will loose 200 mm in cutting distance. For the Z axis, the size of the plate can also affect it, but in my build - as well as many others - the distance from the spoil board up to the bottom of the gantry plates on the X axis determines how much I can cut. I think that is the case with the C-beam plate maker, as well.
