I think last night Windows10 had an automatic update and now this forum acts weird. Every time I open a page it jumps to the bottom of the page. It didn't happen to me when I tried RCGroups this morning only on this site.

Yep - keeps telling me my request (haven't made any requests) couldn't be processed - that's on an android phone, so not Windows.

Everything checks out here. Screenshots and more info will help.

No problems here either. Updated windows 10, using chrome.

Any chance its the "jump to the latest unread response" feature you're experiencing?

    Android, chrome.

    Alex.

PS if I click on close it hangs - rotating circle for ever.

Thats Facebook :) its just an embedded widget, not the forum

I can see the widget, any chance something on your end like an adblocker or some other browser plugin is blocking facebook
Try a clean install of a browser

Likely a Facebook issue. I'm getting the same image in Win10 that Alex is getting in android.

Edit: Now that Facebook has cleared the issue, the problem is gone.

Yes - tried all your suggestions - same problem with Firefox, which I haven't used for months. I'll have a look at your other links in the morning.
    Thanks.

Looking for a commonality, this animated graphic may be what is causing the problem. The issue only happens when it is as the top of the order. It runs fine when I click over to FB but it will not load in the forum browser window.

A new .gif file gets posted on FB and once again it locks up with the error message because it won't play. So I right click and select inspect and the right side of the screen gets taken over by the debug screen. Fine so far. Poked around a bit more then I selected Network and hit F5...

And suddenly the .gif file is playing in the FB window on the left side of the screen.

Close Edge and reopen. Come back to the forum and it's still working. Reboot. Still working. Don't know what I did but it seems happy now.

Can't say the same for Chrome. Not sure what I pushed in Edge so I can't seem to replicate it.

By the way, I wasn't seeing any red boxes either.

I was away from my computer after I posted the OP and came back today. The problem is still there and might be the 'like' request at the bottom of each page! Could you please turn it off while you are working on the problem with Facebook? I'm on a PC and not a phone.

I read on another forum Facebook has acknowledged this issue with the widget/plug-in, so it's not just this website. Who knows when they'll fix it but I'll just use my phone. I've tried toughing it out on a PC but it's too annoying.

Our Social media team is investigating, but do you happen to have a link to the other discussion? Would be interesting

    Facebook Feed Plugin (Jetpack) –

An open google search also yields a bunch of results with the same answers. Like, Justin mentioned maybe just remove the widget and replace with a giant favicon or something as a temporary fix. Or even better, a big ad for black Friday. That footer has probably never had this much attention!

Found a workaround if you're using Chrome. There is an extension called "Social Disconnect Plus" that will disable the facebook widget. No more jumping to the bottom.

If you have AdBlock Plus, right-click on its icon and go to Extension Options. Enable
"Block social media icons tracking" setting. No more jumping to bottom of web pages.

Thanks for the headsup about this extension. I added it to Chrome. The fact that I had to do it rather than Openbuilds forum disabling the widget after so many complains is disappointing.
