So recently Ive slowly been making my way from Eseal to F-360. The other day I ran my first project using F-360 and I went through all the steps. Homing, setting the hight. But when it started it didn't lower all the way down to the pice it was, it was about 1mm shy. Any Ideas why. I cant find a reason for this. In Eseal I set the hight zero the Axis. and it off and running. Every time ive tried F-360 I set the hight zero the Axis, and it about 1mm hight from the project.

What have you set your heights to in F360?

Post a screen shot of the heights tab for the operation.

Also, where have you set the CAM origin in F360?

The hight is alway Zero for most of my projects, don't do any removal from the top of the project or at least I haven't yet. so I set the height to 0
The CAM origin would be the right farthest corner if you were standing in front of the machine looking to the rear of the machine. Eseal always set it up this way no matter where I put the origin. NAd Ive gotten so used to it that thats what I use now (If that makes sense)

Can you post a screen shot of your heights tab for the operation?

What height is your CAM origin? (Top of stock? Top of part? Bottom of part, etc…)

Ok, that’s helpful - on the first tab of the ‘setup’ there is a section on WCS. Where have you set the Z height for the WCS origin for the CAM?

Where are you setting the tool Z zero?

These need to be the same.

Wouldn't that offset the cut height?

Wouldn't affect the wcs Z zero - would offset X and Y and stop 0.5 mm before reaching the full Z depth.

    Alex.

No, the contents of the ‘Setup’ tab in that photo (sorry, I’m on my phone this week, so can’t show you where I mean).

If you’re setting Z zero on the top of your workpiece, then the origin for CAM also needs to be the top of the workpiece. I *suspect* you have it set to the bottom of the workpiece/stock - look on that tab and see where the CAM origin is highlighted on your model. It will probably need to be different to the origin for your CAD model

Well I’m confused about it then, may be if you like when you’re not on your phone you could point it out if ya don’t mind please. I’m still learning F-360 Eseal does it all for you, but I’m really liking F-360 it’s more versatile.
    Thanks

No worries - It looks like you have the origin set to a ‘stock box point’ this is OK, but you need to choose a point on the top of the stock if you’re setting Z zero on the top of the stock. (Click on the ‘Box point’ button and select the point on the stock where you set Z zero on the machine.)

You will need to re-generate your tool paths after that.

Heres a quick video of the sim from a side angel I tried switching the Origin but it always starts off the same. Its so much easer in Eseal but like I said F-360 is way more interesting and versatile, If I can get the height thing figured out . Again thanks a bunch for all the info and help.

The SIM will usually look ok, because it is using the origin you have programmed. The problem comes when you set the machine to a different origin (eg top of stock when the CAM is expecting bottom of stock - everything will be cut too high by the thickness of your stock.)

Study the ‘setup’ tab again and make sure when you select the stock box point that it is *exactly* the same place as you’re setting the X, Y & Z zero on the machine.

This video shows the process of selecting the origin for your machining operations (WCS origin)

Remember you will need to regenerate any tool paths and post-process them to update the gcode.

Sorry it took sooooooooo long to replay to this. But I just rans my second project yesterday on F-360 and I figured out what I was looking at. After its makes it pass on the whole project it returns to the set hight and starts at the point or Origen again or that orange line I guess it is then starts moving down again from there to the next level with my lack of experience with F-360 I didnt understand what it was doing. But now I thing I can move on from Eseal to finally using F-360
Thanks again for all the help you guys are the best. Thanks
