evening all, im in the process of building up the ox cnc, ive got everything together and just put the belts on the X and Y axis, im just wondering how much resistance there should be when i push the gantry back and fourth by hand? ive tensioned the belts with the nip down screws (probably change that design later) thanks for any ideas. chris
do not push the gantry around by hand if the motors are connected to the drivers, you can kill the electronics! if the wheels are set according to the build instructions, and the belts are tensioned to about 12kg (use a fish spring balance) then everything will be right.
the motors are not connected to the drivers, i set everything as per build instructions, they just feel a bit tight thts all.
Eccentrics should be set so that you can JUST turn a wheel with your finger, but it's not uncommon with a new machine for them to be a bit tight at first - the tyres will "bed in" with use and you'll have to adjust them again a few times during the first weeks. If you can push the gantries along the C-beams with some resistance you'll be fine - only worry if it takes a lot of effort to push things around. Alex.
