ive got a workbee thats not working because i trashed the controller (the cable got trapped and ripped the female usb connector off the v3 spark concepts controller board) I tried soldering a new one but failed.....very fiddly I cannot afford a new one (150 dollar from spark concepts) so i reached out on facebook cnc group and a kind chap has sent me a v2 (slightly older) controller he had on a workbee. I installed it, powered up , tried to connect to openbuild control app and the usb wont connect....it kinda go through the motions for a few seconds ( kidding you that its connected ) then goes to disconnected message at bottom (in port box). so question.....it worked before!....with that cable....that laptop....and ive wired up the new controller correctly....so is why it wont connect because its a v2 board (again the guy who gave me the board says it ran good on his workbee. Any advice etc would be well apreciated roy in sheffield uk
You need a controller running Grbl 1.1f or later. V2 likely runs Grbl 0.9 (2015ish) You can try older software like grblPanel from those days Grbl Panel Control which might connect to a board that old, otherwise - would be better to get a BlackBox X32
