I run a Lead 1010, I control it from my lap top, does the interface elevate the need for the lap top, I design with Fusion 360, how do the files get to the Interface? Thanks
It effectively replaces the laptop yes. You copy GCODE files onto a USB drive. See https://docs.openbuilds.com/interface for all the info Section 4.1 docs:interface:usage-instructions [OpenBuilds Documentation] shows this, and it also has a demonstration video at the bottom
Yes, Wifi is just used for firmware updates (So if you elect to not be connected, PLEASE remember to manually update firmware regularly, especially before asking for advice on any issues as bugs may have been fixed in newer firmwares relating to your question) and as a way to remotely upload files: INTERFACE CNC Touch Controller
Well, when you get it there is a bit of time that passed since the factory assembled it, so yes, as per docs:interface:firmware-update [OpenBuilds Documentation] please do update. Regularly. Which includes initially. Weird question, why wouldn't you want to update and start off with the latest and best firmware? We provide three easy methods so its as easy as possible Has no bearing on Probing though... just good practise to stay up to date - something that would be quite automatic if you put it onto your wifi network. Your choice not too means you have to keep it up to date yourself Probing just requires that you a) have a probe XYZ Touch Probe Plus and b) completed all the steps 2.1 through to 3.3 of the setup guide here docs:interface:start [OpenBuilds Documentation]
