Set up my INTERFACE this afternoon. Got to the step where you update the Firmware and have hit a weird wall.

Everything appears to be working on the INTERFACE fine. Reads the USB memory stick. Connects to my WiFi. Knows it needs an update to 1.43.

If I try to update using WiFi from the INTERFACE directly, it gives me a "note enough space" error and then reboots.

Okay. So I put the BIN file on the USB stick and tried doing it that way.

Now I get a "not enough space on USB drive" error.

When I try connecting through CONTROL using my normal CNC laptop, the software never sees the INTERFACE on the USB.

Have not tried to run a job through INTERFACE yet. Not sure if this issue is affecting space for running jobs.

    Guidance greatly appreciated.

I thought that was referring to the cable that connected to between the Blackbox and the INTERFACE. So the cable with the USB connection that was included only does power? Got it.

Still doesn't address the inability to update via WiFi or USB drive.

Yes it does. Per the link that peter gave you

"you will have to Reflash your Interface using CONTROL: As the firmware evolves over time, we sometimes may have to release an update that cannot be performed online or via the USB drive method"

I've had a similar setback in trying to update from v1.24 to v1.43. WiFi and USB methods didn't work. I connected to my laptop via a USB-c cable (a different one than included). I ran the wizard using the mode/reset method and the wizard appeared to run (as evidenced by the log). At completion, the log indicated [exit], I clicked the reset button on the interface and the screen remained black with the y+ and Y- and cancel buttons lit up. It remained in this state for about a minute. I tried clicking the reset multiple times to the same result. I unplugged the interface from the USB cable as it is the power source thinking that would help reset it. When I powered the unit back on using the BB the interface was had all the buttons with a green led and nothing else going on. Did I just brick this thing?

Luckily it is impossible to brick it (bootloader is in ROM) so you can always retry flashing.

What you describe sounds like you were not using the latest CONTROL version? Install v1.0.275 and try again

Received my USB-C cable this afternoon and successfully managed to update the INTERFACE. Just in time to run some parts for a friend who is fixing his full sized Pitts biplane.

Thanks to all for setting me straight and helping me to understand.

It would be helpful to know where you got stuck. Upgrading from 1.41 requires that you do it via Control as noted here: docs:interface:firmware-error-partitions [OpenBuilds Documentation]

On that page, it gives you a link to instructions detailing on how to update via Control: docs:interface:firmware-update-control [OpenBuilds Documentation]

On that page, go through all the steps and tell us where you get stuck. Make sure you are running the latest version of control and that you are NOT using the usb cable supplied with the Interface. That is a power only cable.

    Hi Shawn,

I changed laptops and followed the instructions again and apparently that fixed the issue.

    Thanks for your help.

BTW great interface and Control box.
