So.. came across this... I like the idea.. not so much the implementation.. it slides into the channels of the AL extrusions.. But it's made from Delrin.. with metal pinion gears... This seems like a wear and tear nightmare. I know, probably not much different than the Delrin nut blocks on the lead screws.... I like the idea.. but would prefer if they were steel. Gear Rack Designed for V-Slot - Maker Store PTY LTD
Cool stuff looks like it was modeled from these nylon racks I have some of the blue ones from Precision Racks Manufactured by SDP/SI and they also fit right in V-Slot Agreed delrin not the material of choice for this application. You almost made me let the cat out of the bag on things in the works here
Well not so crazy but obviously it's a similar rack and pinion system. Just not ready to rule out all of the test yet so when its done you guys will be first to know for sure. We have tried every kind of system out there as well with every material you can think of so it will be a good one onces it complete Original idea started here Attaching 'rack' to v-slot Well, glass filled nylon will do very well That being said with these machines having a simple plastic gear rack may be all you need for a particular application but I agree steel racks would be idea for most of our applications.
