I would love to get hold of this but living in europe I understand that this is not possible to use here as obviously we are 220 volts and there are no 220 volts versions available which is a shame as it means we cant use this functionality of the BBC as intended easily.

Can I ask please is there anyone out there that has made a 220 volt version of this or knows the part number of the relay inside the 110 volt so I can see if one can be made over here in europe.

I do wonder whether the 110 volt version could be used or whether its a specific rated relay voltage otherwise i would buy one and srip it down and rebuild it with european sockets.

Have we please go any electronics engineers on here who would know how to make one of these and would be prepared to explain please or point the way to a relay that could be used.

Looking at the specifications it seems the relay can be triggered by a wide variety of voltages I think, I am not sure what the output from the BBC is.

Can support help on this? advise the part numbers and help us all over here who buy your kit but cant use it in europe as intended because of the voltage and hertz difference. I'm hoping this is not a big ask.

Looking for some help please, putting a block of sockets together is easy but I don't know what relay and other circuitry you have in place , it cant be much based on the cost of the extension lead.

I would dearly love to have the use of this on my system please. It's such a shame you don't make one for europe and australia. Just need some help figuring out what is needed to make the relay part of it work

    thanks all.

I will take mine apart when I get home and look. My guess is that it would work with just an adaptor since most of those relays are rated for 110 or 220.

Brilliant thank you, I could order one then in and just use european adaptors on it . That would be great, many thanks. Neil

    Hello

Just wondering whether you managed to have a look at the IOT relay? Many thanks Neil

There should be a 140v MOV in there as surge protection (according to IoT Power Relay - COM-14236 - SparkFun Electronics) preventing it from being used with higher voltages. (although @Giarc if you do take yours apart I wouldnt mind pictures either hehe, I am in 240v world too)

:) i cannot tell you other ways due to legal reasons when you electrocute yourself, but google is your friend

You want some kinda power socket or relay that can be switched with a 'logic level signal' - use your google fu, and checkout vendors like Sparkfun etc there are kits with beefy mechanical relays and logic inputs. Just not wrapped up safe like the IoT therefore no recommendation from us.

And no a Solid State Relay is a bad idea on a router!!! Really, it leaks current, and hates inductive loads.

Or just flip that router switch manually (; its not that hard

Also google for something called a SuperPID (even not involved and unsafe)

Thank you for your message, can you please tell me what voltage the Black Box sends out to the relay to operate it and whether its a pulse or constant on voltage otherwise I wont know what to look for.

I'm just a time served woodworker and not an electronics person. I can deal with 220 v house circuits but not electronics, its not my area of expertise.

Yes I can use my finger but I prefer to use the software to turn on all of my equipment which is what I thought it was going to do until I discovered that the IOT relay is only for those on 110 voltages. Its like having an itch and you cant scratch it. Its irritating.

    Thanks.

    5v 10mA logic signal
Can be PWM, or On/Off (defaults to PWM, but even in that mode if you only send M3S1000 and M5 its still on/off) (See gnea/grbl )

    Sorry man, I hear you (;
Its pretty easy - just do things safe! (and don't blame us when your house burns down hehe) plenty of info online, even more relay kits available online just takes a little googling
Although we won't make recommendations, if there is a product you want to know if it will burn down your house, do ask though I'll happily point out bad ideas and underrated products :)

Both those have the same relay already on the BlackBox - not really beefy enough for a router, induction motors have a large current surge on power up. Look for something at least 20-30A rated.
The external 5v supply is probably going to be hard to get rid of (to power other side of the opto/switching transistor for the coil) so with this style you may need to source 5v from elsewhere too (there is a 5v output on BlackBox but its on the AUX1 header)

Ok, thats fine, that means I am looking in the right area just need to upgrade the amperage and thanks for the heads up on the 5volts thats useful to know, I will keep looking, thank you.
