Does anyone here have the BlackBox and/or Interface Touch operating on a Laguna CNC mill? I purchased a used machine and the RichAuto pendant it came with is horrible when compared to the Interface CNC Touch -I am looking for any feedback for users with experience operating either of these units on a Laguna. thanks
Apparently this is not very popular topic? Is there another way (or another forum) that I can ask this question? OpenBuilds seems to be a great community, except I have specific needs and rather curious if I'm expecting too much from the software/hardware combination of BlackBox and Interface Touch?
Yes, Laguna doesn't seem to have users here. You asked for feedback from actual Laguna users, so perhaps the reason for quiet in this thread. Checkout the Docs: start [OpenBuilds Documentation] for the two products you are interested in, to see if their specs suit your machine, and feel free to come back with specific questions (for example, want to know if your motors will be a good fit with the BlackBox? Then please supply their specs/model numbers/datasheets for review)
Hi Peter, we had a visit by a rather informed individual that helped us to understand the VFD used on our 2nd-hand Laguna CNC: the VFD we have (SUNFAR E300) is missing the display/keypad, so we are unable to view/control the parameters and inputs on the VFD: they are needed to setup the VFD after we get the spindle, Blackbox and power supply wired. I was thinking, is the OpenBuilds CNC Touch Interface (or the OpenBuilds Control software) able to perform these parameter settings for completing the wiring?, or is the VFD display the only method available to get the parameters setup?
Only the VFD. But you can always replace it. A VFD is around $100 (probably less than the time and effort finding an alternative) - if you're spindle is standard enough to work with replacement VFD
Excellent... appreciate the prompt response: that is what I thought as well, but just needed to check... thanks, Peter! It will be ordered today
