Hi all, I have designed and build a 1500mm x 1000mm laser cutter build. I'm resonably happy with it but ive got a few issues with backlash and belt tension and i'd like to change a few things. Im looking to redesign it to try and rectify a few issues to make a nicer build overall. The Original build was using 40x40 vslot for the main frame/gantry. I mounted chinese hiwin linear rails and used nema 17s, belt drive. I had a 8mm rod at the rear of the machine with a pulley on either end connected to a nema 17 to move either side of the Y-axis. I do like the chinese hiwin linear rails, very fast and smooth. And belt drive seems the norm. I'd like some opinions on the ideal motion setup for a large laser cutter. The new build will be approx 1500x900, similar size to the original. If you need any more info about the build, ask away
