Hi, I recently bought a Boxford Dueti that runs a GRBL controller and uses the OpenBuilds software. The machine does milling and turning however in my case it will be used for turning as its primary function. I've messed about with the software and done some searching but cant find an answer. I have a Y axis with lathe tools ofset in a gang fashion. If there a way to tell the OpenBuilds Control software that I have multiple turning tools and allow these offsets to have a functional ATC? Thanks
no, GRBL does not support a table of tool offsets, therefore CONTROL does not do so. it also does not support tool changes. but there are ways..... you can get your post processor to insert G92 offsets for each tool, thus your tool table ends up being inside the postprocessor. or you can use a WCS per tool, so G54 is your facing tool, G55 is the right hand tool, G56 left hand tool, G57 part off, and so on. the old GRBL support 6 offsets. This means you will have to reset all the WCS offsets before every job, this can be automated with a probe
Thanks. I was thinking along the lines of using the WCS. I can do basic PP editing but not something I can easily automate. Let me have a think about how much time I want to put into this controller, might look at other options. Thank you.
