I was curious so I decided to compare the GRBL settings of the LEAD 1010 and LEAD 1515 as recommended in the OpenBuilds Control Software. I expected the X-axis maximum travel and Y-axis maximum travel values to be different but several other settings are different as well which does not make much sense to me since the machines are identical except for size. As seen in the attached chart the following settings have different values: Step direction invert Homing search seek rate X-axis steps per mm Y-axis steps per mm X-axis maximum rate Y-axis maximum rate Z-axis maximum rate Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks, Scott
Speeds differ because machine is bigger and heavier. Enertia mostly. Direction invert differs because 1010s Z axis is different from 1515. Inverted drive method. One moves the beam. The other moves the carriage. Steps per mm differ slightly when leadscrew is tensioned (but baseline anyway. Don't forget to use Calibration Wizard under Wizards and Tools)
Worth noting all of its very conservative - beginner friendly, reliable. Lost of scope for tuning if you want to get more from it...
