Hello Everyone, I'm seeking suggestions and a parts list to enhance the stability of my X axis and gain a slight increase in height and rigidity for my Z axis. Initially, when I got my CNC machine, I was cutting very hard wood at too high a speed, which I believe has compromised its sturdiness. Currently, there's a minor wobble in my Z axis that I can't seem to eliminate, and I'm also interested in adding just an inch or two of height. Any recommendations on how to address these concerns would be greatly appreciated. A High Z Mod seems a bit overkill for the modest height increase I'm looking for. Thank you!
Regarding movement in the Z axis - if you have been pushing the machine hard you may have accelerated the wear on the V-wheels. Check your eccentrics and the state of the tyres on the wheels, they may need replacing. For a small increase in height you could (making sure your machine frame is perfectly square) fix the frame to your bench, remove any spoilboard supports and fix your spoilboard directly to your bench, but be aware that you could collide with the frame (you might need to change the X dimension in your grbl settings to avoid that) and surfacing your spoilboard becomes more problematic. Alex.
great idea to remove the spoilboard supports .. makes it similar to other machines on the market. I can attach my spoilboard directly the bench top, and like you said chenge the X dimension. thanks!
