Finally getting around to installing the High Z mod on my 1010, however I am not using it to gain Hight, I am adding it to gain stability. I will be cutting the unneeded length off. I know I saw this question come up before but now I can not find it.

My question is, Any reason I can't keep the X lead screw on the bottom C-Beam vs the top? Some argue that it may be preferred. Also I would not need to extend my wires in the drag chain.

    Thanks -

I believe mine is on the bottom on my lathe, which is basically a lead 1010 high z and with a rotary axis instead of a y axis.

Powering the bottom rail is definitely the way to go. It results in greater lateral stiffness making for a cleaner cut.
