Hi everyone, I'm new to the CNC world. I recently got my machine and have assembled it per the build videos on the pages. Followed all of the steps and crossed all the T's and dotted all the I's. I first had an issue with my interface after doing the firmware update, it would not complete the self test and was hung. Support ticket submitted and they are sending me a replacement once they are back in stock. Using a laptop and the Control software, I have no issues jogging the machine around. I have the limit switches installed and wired per all instructions. When testing them manually, they trigger the software and show an alert. The problem is, when doing a Home All, the Y-axis limit switch and the X-axis limit switch both get crashed into by the gantry. I have moved the gantry out of the way and checked everything to ensure all was placed properly per the video of the build and that the wires for the limit switches are in correctly (grnd, V+, Sig). After repeated attempts and crashes, I suspected at least one of the switches was faulty. I ordered 3 new switches out of pocket and replaced the one that had gotten damaged despite hitting the abort button when the gantry would crash into it and knock it off. New switch in place, tried Home all, and same issue occurs. The only equipment running is the power supply and BB, and the LED spindle light. I have read about interference, but this doesn't seem like it should be an issue. I welcome input and suggestions on how to resolve this or trouble shoot the issue. I haven't been able to get the BB firmware updated, so not sure if that's the problem or something else. Thanks
Also make sure the correct axis is shown in the Troubleshooting tab. Disable Hard Limits initially to see the states in Troubleshooting better. Accidentally plugging X into Y for example can cause this. The Troubleshooting tab is a great way to test your switches safely
Thank you Peter for the reply. As soon as I get the time, I'll do this to verify they are correct. If they are all in the correct locations, I'll post that updated info in this thread.
Well Peter, you are THE MAN!!! I can't thank you enough as I was beginning to think I had gotten in over my head with this endeavor. Despite my following everything step by step and labeling all the wires when installing them, somehow...my old eyes must have misread the XLS and YLS and they were in fact inserted in the wrong places on the BB. Disabling the Hard limits and testing the switches in the trouble shooting mode is where I finally saw that they were in fact swapped/inverted. Once I corrected that, and jogged the machine around a bit, the "Home All" worked perfectly! Unfortunately, through frustration and trial and error prior to posting my question, I had "killed" two limit switches. I only have one of the 3 left that I purchased out of pocket as a backup now. Fingers crossed that I don't have any other issues.
