Looking to do a retrofit of my 1010 that I've had for a few years. I couldn't find this in the forums anywhere. I'm pretty sure of what I need but just want to confirm in case I'm missing anything. Off the top of my head I need 2 each 1500mm C beams, 2 each 1540 lead screws, and 3 each 2x60 linear rails for underside of bed. This obviously doesn't cover the 90 deg brackets and hardware for the additional length. Can anyone comment on this if they've done it previously? Or does anyone have an inventory list of parts required? Thanks!
Remember to also add the tensioning system for 1500mm axes. Watch the LEAD1515 video to gain further information on how that is assembled, the different endplates for the thrust bearings etc, and add those components as well. As for checking your shopping list, looks good (if you add the tensioning components) - but there is always a chance we both missed something. A far better idea is to plan your mash up build in CAD, generate a proper BoM and then tick off what you already have on hand.
Checking out the 1515 assembly video is a good call. Oh right, tensioning system with thrust bearing and end plates. I don't think that existed for the 1500mm system when I built this machine. The lead screw whip was the reason I never went with the larger machine in the first place and I didn't think I would need the additional volume. I hear that, as far as building the assembly in CAD and generating a BOM. Of course I was hoping not to spend that much time in order to compile the additional material list since it's not a custom machine.
I was wondering if you ever got around to extending your 1010 to a 1015? I'm thinking of doing the same thing.
