Hi I'm planning to buy a 1515 lead mainly for cutting plywood parts. What the maximum size for the plywood sheet that would fit in the CNC ? I would like to process 1250x1250mm sheets . Would it fit in the CNC, even if I can cut only part of it ? Thanks ! -fx
It would fit, but this is the cutting area from the LEAD 1515 product page: Travel (Work Area) X Axis 46" (1170mm) / Y Axis 49" (1250mm) / Z Axis 3.5" (~90mm) Your X axis travel would be 1500 - (20 x 2 for upright extrusion) - 125(cbeam gantry plate) - (2 x 20 angled brackets) = 1295mm for total travel without a homing switch in the way. Then subtract out 80mm for the two cbeam Y axis pieces plus the 2 6mm inner plates plus the space between plates and cbeam and you are down to about 1200 mm of open surface for sheet goods. However, you would not be able to cut to their extreme edges along the Y gantry. *edit: There are 90 degree angled plates on top the X axis gantry that also cause a little loss in X travel.
If I get it right, the X axis is pretty much open on both ends, so it's not really cause for concern, isnt it ? And if the Y axis can cut up to 1250mm, then I'll be good, right ? Thank you -fx
