I'm looking for some advice on how to troubleshoot Z depth issues.
Working on cutting some rectangles out of 3/4" plywood yesterday, and the issue that I'm running into is that the Z isn't consistent over the course of the job, and plunges too far into the material. After pausing the job and returning the Z to the work zero position, it goes below the stock surface.

Re-zeroing with a touch plate (same as before) parks the bit right on the surface.

This is new; what's changed since I was last able to cut consistent Z-depths is the bit. In previous cuts on this job I was using an upcut bit, and switched to a compression bit. I'm using Gwizard to set feeds/speeds in both cases.

Y'all have any thoughts on what I can work through to troubleshoot here?

    Check grubscrews on Z coupler
Check Grbl settings (max rate and acceleration) for the Z axis
