Having built a light weight CNC machine (10W solid state laser) I have now decided to move to a heftier version for milling; however, after reading the specifications for the lead screw CNC and the lead screw Workbee I am having difficulty identifying the salient differences and am hopeful that someone can lend their expertise. The difference is generational. The WorkBee preceded the Lead system by about a year. The main difference between the two was the desire to get away from using custom plates. The Lead CNC is completely modular and comprised of off the shelf components. The Lead system also has a slightly greater working depth. Beyond that the differences are relatively insignificant.
The cutting area in the Y direction is also a little bit larger on the LEAD due to the 125mm plates vs the larger Workbee plates if comparing two similar sized machines (ie. both 1010)
Yes but the cutting area in the X direction is greater on the WorkBee due to the thinner side plates. Basically a trade off...
