Hi All. Can someone please have a look at the following sight for me, and let me know which screw is equivalent, or better, than the 8mm one we sell here. http://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/category-30.html I know they are all dearer than our one, but they are literally just down the road from me, and I can pick one up any time. I just didn't want to get the wrong one. Can't decide whether I want, or need, a 300mm or 600mm one though. 500mm would have been good. Is there a better, finer thread amongst this lot, and would this be more precise? It will have to fit in the plates I'm getting from Robert as well. Cheers Gray
Hi Gray, These look like very high leads and will move the load very quickly. This would be great for maybe a 3D printer, but not so much for a mill. I like the look of the 8x30 http://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/category-30/SPEEDYFINET08-30screw.html with this nut http://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/category-19/SPEEDYFPT8-30.html for the 3d printer application but I would look for less of a lead for a mill. Slow and strong is the idea. Hope this helps Mark
Would the 7.5x7.5 be viable? http://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/category-30/SPEEDYFINET7.5-7.5screw.html Or the 10x10?
Would this one not be any good? 8mm x 10. http://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/category-32/SPEEDYSTANDT8-10screw.html Would I need a left or right thread? Gray
Can someone get back to me on the above query? I really would like to order the screw from them, along with my Nema 23's, if poss. If none of them will work, then fair enough. Does it matter if left or right? Cheers Gray
Hi Gray, Left or Right hand thread is unimportant as software configuration takes care of motor rotational direction. Given the choice of screws you are considering my preference would be for 10 x 10 (mainly because with direct drive and rapid feed, you will be achieving a motor speed of say 900 RPM and dependant on screw length, an 8mm dia. screw is liable to suffer more 'whip' than a 10mm dia. screw). Everything is a compromise my friend. Tweakie.
Absolutely. However, I do need it to fit in the plates I intend to get from Robert, as well as the bearings supplied from the Store. Hence my trying to match the 8mm supplied by the Store. It is for the Z axis only, and therefore I think this is why 8mm is being used. What do you reckon? Gray
Excuse my manners! Good morning Tweakie. I've pretty much decided on these Steppers http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co.uk/products/2/6/nema_23_60mm_high_torque_stepper_motors/ With them in mind, and putting diplomacy to one side for a moment, what driver would you recommend for these? Remember, they are to be used in conjunction with the USB controller. Cheers Gray Oh by the way. My shipment comes in on Monday!!!!!!! (or should I say, boat?) "Ahhhh! The chance to build, and then ......... to build." Gray Sinclair
Hi Gray, Just my opinion but I would be inclined to browse the PlanetCNC forum to see what drivers others recommend or condemn. http://forum.planet-cnc.com/viewforum.php?f=9&sid=48a626e5fae83070a0b8af5d39f84b27 Tweakie.
