OK WTH is going on with my machine. never has this issue before (I think) Ran 2 pass with no issues. Start of the 3rd pass it says HARD LIMIT SWITCH TRIGGERED (BUT) nothing is near any of the limit switches. Using the openbuilds limit switches, Blackbox 32, OB controller, no vacuum running because it's broken
Some other source of EMI most likely (false limits trigger): docs:blackbox-x32:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation]
Theres alot of wood dust in the AIR because the vacuum is down and it looks like it charged by the way it sticks to things. Could that be the problem by chance?
Yep, could well be, but more likely if it's building up in the vicinity of the limit switch wiring. If you have any functioning vacuum try to keep the machine as clean as possible, but be aware that the vacuum hose can build up a significant static charge if it's not earthed. Alex.
Ya im betting it's the dust build up and particles in the air because Iv had to use G-Code viewer to find the location where it stops and download it to the drive and start off where it failed at. So I run it a a higher rate without the spindle running and it works fine. Then when it with in 1 pass I switch on the spindle and it with make 3 to 4 passes then the dust is in the air again and then it triggers again. But i'm also adding copper foil on the limit switches wiring now That seemed to help out on my old machine. I was also reading on here you mentioned making sure that $20 $21$22 are all set to 0. SO I was going to hook up the putter and check the setting also. Ive run a few project and haven't had a Issue till now.
So Update, I disconnected all the OB switches and it still tripped saying HARD LIMIT SWITCH HIT) or whatever it says. How can that be? I ended up running the project manually sense it wasn't a hard project. Just very VERY annoying. I didn't get a chance to check the $20,$21,$22 settings yet I will before I run my next project. I had to do a bunch of cleanup because if the lack of vacuum support. decided to while I have it down I'm going to replace the limit switch cables with shielded cables which I have from when I used the NON OB switches. While I was running the machine even in manual it threw the HARD LIMIT a couple times. Its always something with these machines I swear. Ok well any pointer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
EMI from spindle so extreme its penetrating the PCB traces directly. Sort the source (where EMI comes from) rather than trying to patch every symptom or removeling normally on features like Hard Limits. It should work with them on. Doctor the disease not the symptom
Say Peter I had a though this morning I was using a bit i've never used before. Thing is a beast it called a HOG from IDC (see Pic) and it put off one heck of a high pitch sound when running. Could that have been the culprit setting off the OB limit switches? Because the maching never done this sense the rebuild I did a few months ago until I tried this bit out.
Do you have dust extraction? Smaller dust = more rubbing (remember primary school, balloon rubbed on head) = more static = higher regularity of static discharge
yes but unfortunately it’s broken right now getting a new one in a couple weeks it was making lot and lots of dust I tried to keep the switches blower off but that bit just throws to dust running everything into a powder. I was thinking the dust might be the culprit it looked like it was static changed the way it was sticking to things. But I had already run insulated wiring to the OB switches by the time I had read your reply.
