Hi all hopping someone can help me

I have just built a cnc lathe and running mach3 turn i have set up z axis it's perfect
X is not so good I'm running a Nema34 parallel underneath my slide on t3 belt at the rear not direct drive with connecter.
The tool post is at the rear of the lathe.
I've set up the steps and if I move it 100mm it's bang on the money have home switch at the rear as well.

I'm using it in diameter mode.

I am having trouble setting the zero to center of the lathe I take a pass over the part and measure it end into that and to the x then take another cut mach3 x says its one mm smaller i measure it it's around 3mm smaller what am I doing wrong. Thanks David
