I have the lead 1010 machine and I was doing some test cuts and it did not make a perfect circle. Could my machine not be square? Looks square to me but trying to trouble shoot this, and don't know if I need to remove my lead screws and ensure everything is alignment. I will say that the left side has a slight lag at some moments which is making me think something isn't square. Thoughts and feedback please
The best way to check for squareness on a system is to cut a square. Judging squareness by cutting circles really won't tell you much. Besides, circles out of round is generally either a backlash issue or a binding issue. Backlash issues are caused by a looseness in the system and are identified by repeatable errors. Binding issues are caused by a tightness in the system and are identified by non-repeatable errors. If you'll run a series of squares and then some circles and post a picture we can probably tell you where the problem lies.
I have a C-Beam... before assembling, I took all the C-Beam rails to a machine shop and had them squared up as they were not square from OpenBuilds. Took great care during assembly to verify squareness during assembly. Once assembled, calibrated each axis (steps/MM) using mill and ruler. Created test pattern to measure. My circles (and squares) are off now in x-axis direction approximately 0.006 to 0.007 inches. Visually they look OK. Working to improve.
