well I went ahead and my a XYZ probe. I had just a z probe and once I figured out all my travel speeds It has worked very well. I readily apologize for questioning how to set it up so much as it was just me being a big dumb dumb head not thinking about the z axis being a lead screw not a belt drive.

But I digress, I went through some of my scrap aluminium and found a piece of 20+ yr old scrap and thought about how they worked and what my limitations were. I tried on my cnc router and it was working but not as fast as my old big non cnc just crank the wheel mill. I threw in a 1" bit to rough it out then went back with I believe it was a 3/16" to knock out the corners then cut it down in size using a chop saw and belt sander to finish and line grain it. Drilled a 3/8" hole in the corner for the visual. The scrap had 2 holes left in it and I found one of them was a 5/16 so threw a 3/8-16 tap through it and cut off the bolt so it wouldn't protrude through. Through a big wire o connector there and soldered to my old z-probe. threw it all together measured it and corrected to the custom XYZ dimensions and it works fantastic. The only problem is the initial travel to z probe and to the edges so I found that if I set the bit at the outside corner it travels and set z right between the connection screw for the wire and the 3/8 hole in the corner and it then travels to the outside edges and sets up perfect at the corner of the workpiece.

all in all I might make a couple dimensional changes and change where my wire attaches but I used scrap and "hammered to fit and painted to match" LOL
