This would be my first build here or anywhere. I need at least 12" movement in x and y. (Don't need z movement.) And then either a fixed "spray head" mounted above it, or a movable head and a fixed stage area. There are a few approaches I could use: 1) C-Beam XLarge X/Y Table Bundle C-Beam XLarge X/Y Table Bundle C-Beam XLarge X/Y Table with the black box controller: BlackBox Motion Control System So for this one, the table would move, and I'd mount the spray head up above it, using a linear rail support structure. 2) OpenBuilds Sphinx 55 (20" x 20") OpenBuilds Sphinx 55 (20" x 20") Stage doesn't move, but spray head would. 3) OpenBuilds ACRO 55 20" x 20" https://openbuildspartstore.com/openbuilds-acro-55-20-x-20/ Same: stage wouldn't move, but spray above would. Any thought? [Thanks!]
How big are the items you are spraying? Here is a cool sand blasting booth with an OpenBuilds machine at the helm @evaneisman on Instagram: “#Repost @jimstoddart (@get_repost) ・・・ CNC blasting for @autodesk in Toronto. Custom machine built for @evaneisman #brooklynnavyyard…”
Belts will give better speed for painting but the ACRO is probably not stout enough to do the job. You might be better off just building an H-frame with 3 of the NEMA 23 belt driven actuators.
Not big. It's sort of an 8x8" frame, with 4 parts each in 2 columns. (The parts themselves are ~2x3.5".) The frame and parts themselves aren't taller than 1/2", so I don't have to worry about z much.
