Hello I’m looking for anyone that can help build a LARGE scale 3D printer. I want to leverage Continuous Strand of Carbon Fiber thread along with Carbon Fiber bits that are in the filament. I.e. similar to MarkForged and Continuous Composites ideas but I want it to be Open Build design on rails for at least 4 foot long sections but ideally we could scale it to 21 feet long. Goal would be to create system that could build Car, boat and Aircraft parts near completed quality. Is there anyone who can help?
What you seek is a tad bit ambitious for OpenBuilds systems. But as a starting point, what is the initial desired build envelope and what is the size and weight of the extruder apparatus?
I think it’s possible with open builds I want this size printer.... MacroMAKEiT: Affordable Large Scale 3D Printer But with continuous carbon fiber strand mixed with CF filament like this printer... Onyx Pro Desktop 3D Printer: Continuous Fiberglass | Markforged The combo would be amazing for building bike frames to airframes.
The frame is fairly simple. There are plenty of examples in the Core XY section of the forum that can easily be scaled to what you need. The printhead is another story. Do you have a source for it?
No source for the print heads. That’s what I was hoping for your guidance on. If you can help, it could help millions of people.
If I wanted an Engineer on this forum to build a custom printer prototype that I could then take into production for sale, is there anyone here that could help?
I can help, I have designed several large scale machines for clients, including a 5Mx3M 5 axis CNC machine to mill foam, do you want to send me information privately?
Click on the person's name and when the black box pops up click start a conversation. You can also start or reply to a conversation by clicking on the little envelope at the top right of the screen next to the flag.
