Hi I am looking for help and ideas on how to build a very simple alignment setup. I have a small needle which I use to produce small droplets of water that fall onto a surface directly below it. There are a few main features I need solving: 1: Course adjustment of the needle height (around 2cm per step) over 1.5m 2: Fine adjustment of the needle position in the horizontal plane (1mm per step) over 5cm I have added a very rough sketch but any ideas are welcome thank you for the help. The course Z movement doesnt need to be motorized if that is easier.
I think a simple belt-drive for the z axis- two opposing corners attached to timing belt, which come down one outside face to a crankshaft- this allows just one motor for the whole thing whilst preventing racking. The x and y axes can be simple leadscrew affairs (a 250mm screw cut in half?). The motors can ride inside the uprights.
