Just a random question/idea. A horizontal table takes up a lot of ground room. Any one build a vertical Cnc/router table? Or plasma? Vacuum cup like system to hold cutouts from falling out ? Of finish cut connections on the highest point? Reason I ask I have a very tall long but narrow garage. I have also a 2 post car lift 8000 pound. Might just fix the table to it. Looking for insight. Thanx rich, I’m looking to build a large table to accept 6x10 sheets for furniture production
The subject was discussed a few years back in this thread. I don't recall anything coming of it. A 6' (usable) X-gantry is getting beyond the capability of OpenBuilds extrusions. All I can really offer is that if you do decide to go vertical you may want to consider a constant force spring to lift the router carriage. Sure you can counterbalance the load with a pulley and additional weight but that's just doubling the amount of inertia you need to overcome.
