I,like many here, have been bit by the CNC bug. After too much research I'm going to build a large OX. The only thing holding me back is the electronics portion of the build. After reading for hrs (maybe too much). I can't decide on the electronics setup. I don't know if I'm focusing too much on the problems people are having. I plan to start cutting some wood projects, nothing complex, gears etc. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what you think a newbie should use. I don't mind starting off one way and upgrading later once I figure out what I'm doing. Is there anything that would be easier to setup and get cutting (get my feet wet with) and then move up (upgrade) to some thing else. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
The Gecko G540 would be my choice for the electronics http://www.geckodrive.com/featured-products/g540.html and Mach3 for the control software http://www.machsupport.com/software/mach3/. I have found it is a whole lot easier to start out with good stuff. Tweakie.
