I'm hoping this is the right forum to post this. I bought plans to build my own Cnc machine to make guitars from this place:
    eGuitar Plans
It uses an Arduino Uno board with this BoB:
ST25 - Arduino GRBL Screw Terminal Board w Arduino by Ron on Tindie
I'm pretty sure i've flashed the Arduino Uno with GRBL correctly because Universal GCode Sender works, the only problem is the y axis doesn't move like x & z does, like when you jog those, they move the amount thats set in UGCS. To move the y axis, i have to constantly hit the jog button, and it only moves in one direction (y+). And when jogging Y, it makes a knocking sound. When I turn the machine on, it makes a clunk sound. I'm using 23HS9430B steppers, with DM542A drivers. I've also been trying to get the settings for the driver switches. The guy who I bought the plans from doesn't answer my emails. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I did the paired wire test, found that blue & red and green & black were the correct pairs, just like I had them hooked up originally. I connected the motors directly to the drivers, eliminating the harness with the same results. Does the blue wire & red wire have to be specifically connected to A+ & A- (like in my bought plans), or can they be connected to B+ & B- ? Could the problem also be in the driver switches? Also when X & Y turn, there's a slight vibration. Man this is frustrating!

Are the switches the same as the other drivers?
If you move that motor to a different driver (and its motor to this driver) does the problem follow the motor or stay with the driver
