I am designing a 3 axis gantry to measure magnets and magnet arrays, up to 600mm x 200mm x 30mm. I need to keep everything within about 150mm to the magnets non magnetic to not affect the fields. Does anyone know if the lead screws 300 series?. I may go with aluminum shafts from McMaster and plastic sleeve bearings for my Z axis, the rest can be V-groove. Thanks
Hello Thoreauman, I don't know non-ferrous Acme screws but the M5 screws and nuts are sold made out aluminium; you can find them in the RC and bicycle world. -Ronald

Yes it is, the Acme screw is almost non-magnetic. I'm helping out on a military project with V-Slot and they also use it to mount a scanner to the structure.
Almost being the key word there. I have no idea what it is made from but was able to note a slight attraction to a fairly strong welding magnet. Are belts an option?
I think I will try the lead screw and use belts as a fall back. I will have a long plastic end for the probe. I am using belts for the X and Y. When I have it modeled up I will post it. Thanks for the help.
