Hi, new here and first post. To start I'm new to cnc and currently building a ooznest workbee. Now I was gifted this kit and was part built, and stored in a container for about 3years before I was given it. I decided that I needed to disassemble the cnc and start from scratch. The problems I have had so far and advice has got me as far as a complete machine that sort of moves. But here is my problems, firstly I don't know which model this workbee is, and has an xpro v3 controller, which the instructions says to use Universal gcode sender as the software. After asking ooznest they recommended to use Openbuilds controls. I also had issues finding the drivers for the xpro. Next my endstops didn't work so replaced them all. Now I have a machine that moves but using ( continuous mode) x and y move fine but z if I hold down the mouse button moves a few seconds then stops and buzzes. I think it's to do with speeds, but I don't know how to change them. If I use the jog slider it works but the other two axis move too slow. So I went to grbl setting and used a workbee present and find that all works in jog but when I home all axis buzz. Please help me as I'm stuck from here.
One the one hand. If you want the easiest and best performance option: replace the xPro with the much newer and better BlackBox (see docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox for more) The xPro's drivers are underpowered for proper speeds with NEMA23s. The BlackBox will be a game changer and make the machine into a beast If you have to keep the xPro : OpenBuilds-CONTROL > connect first > Grbl settings tab > and dial down Max Rate and Acceleration until it moves better. Drivers for the xPro: see section 4.1 of docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox (both uses FTDI drivers)
The link below explains grbl settings (for changing max speeds for example) I have to agree with @Peter Van Der Walt (even though I don't have one myself) the blackbox would be a good replacement for the Xpro V3, which is getting a bit long in the tooth now. Your Workbee must be a bit older than three years - Ooznest changed to the Duet controller just over three years ago. grbl/settings.md at master · gnea/grbl Alex.
