It has so far, been one of those ****** days!!
First, I have had a 1TB hard drive go corrupt, and guess what, all my CNC stuff was on it.
The Videos of the build I'm doing, and all my SketchUp models and drawings...Gone!
Plus loads and loads of other stuff. :(
I'll shoot the first person who talks about "BACKUPS"!! :zipit:
I have 5 drives in all on my computer, and two of those are 1TB backup drives. They weren't, however, backing up the one I lost!!
And Now!! I've just had a HiWin carriage slide off the rail and spit all of its bearings all over the floor!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
I think, for safety, I'll go back to bed for the rest of the day.

Maybe the HiWin carriage was sacrificing its bearings as repair parts to revive the poor 1TB drive !? ;)

Gray, I had this happen to me twice. Although most stuff was backed up either online or in some other form, I lost many files. I was able to get the drive to work long enough to recover the important ones by freezing the hard drive overnight. It may be worth a shot.

Good idea. It doesn't even see the drive!! :banghead::banghead:
Or I would put a recovery program on the job :(

I've been meaning to look into a RAID set up. What it does is allow you to either distribute files throughout two drives, or create a mirror that is a direct active copy of the main. You'd pretty much be running a three drive setup, SSD boot drive, HDD data, HDD active copy. That isn't anything conplicated, you just need support for it on on your motherboard.
