Looking at the main build page, it seems like there were a lot of troubles connecting to a smoothie. I'm sure it could probably be easily controlled by a GRBL or Ramps setup.

To add on to this and the previous question about what profile beams you're using and deflection, etc...
One of the changes I've made in the design process, is that I'm using 2020 front to back, with a 2040 support extrusion holding that up, and then making a 2040 box for X/Y which will sit on top of the 2020 rail (and be screwed down to keep it in place). I wanted to be able to lift out the whole XY assembly to change wheels or something, without having to take half the machine apart.

I see you put your Y rails 20mm above in the front, which can roll right off, but I'm enclosing that area so that solution didn't work. Hopefully I can keep the xy stable and aligned with minimal fuss.

I'm still designing and putting together a BOM for it. Not something I can afford today. Hoping to see openbuilds have an annual father's day sale where I can get most of their stuff on sale.

But other than being slightly smaller overall, it should be quite the same as this build. I think instead of 1500mm rails, I'm using 1360mm, and instead of 1000mm deep I'm at 865 to fit this on my table.

I plan on enclosing it in a custom built steamer trunk and make it steampunk.

After talking with some other laser guys, I think I'm going to end up going with a Cohesion3d smoothie based system. Hopefully I don't have the same issues as the OP.

As long as I don't fry it in the process, I can at least use it for a 3d printer or something if it doesn't work with the laser.

Is there a cut list of what materials were used for this build?

I liked this build. Do you happen to have a list of all the metal parts I would need to use to build it? Thank you.
