that is what i have been fighting with and hoping some sort of feature is added that backs up maybe the last 10 seconds of gcode and machine settings so it can resume where it left off...

Openbuilds Control keeps trying to update but comes up with the error that 64-bit Windows is required. Is the control software no longer compatible with 32-bit Windows?

hello everyone, I have a cnc with a black box, everything is installed, but when I want to connect it to my mac (on Majave 10.14.16) it only offers "Bluetooth-incoming-port" so I have install the driver, it worked! but the next day it won't work, even when reinstalling the driver, I tested them all, and I even changed the usb cable, but it doesn't work anymore, do you have any advice to give me? thank you (ps I'm French sorry if there are any errors)

Sorry first opportunity to be in front of machine. Do you want me to do a manual install? The client is reporting that it is up to date at version 1.0.284

Can any of you experts chime in on any idea why I keep getting these prompts mid run? They are intermittent and not always at the same spot in the toolpath.

The only thing changed is I am using a different PC, I did add some leds under the X axis but I have had this same issue happen multipe times today regardless if I have them on or off - the wiring does have ferrite chokes. My dust collector is running and it is grounded, copper wire all the way through the inside of the tube grounded to the machine. I checked all my limits and nothing is pushing on them or in the way of them.

The only other thing is I am cutting on PVC trim board.

    GRBL ERROR

Error 9 - G-code locked out during alarm or alarm state........

I was running the machine this morning and encountered this and then said screw it not dealing with it today....... I just went back out this afternoon and it did the same.

One file was post processed through Vcarve Pro the second file through Fusion 360 - both with the OB postprocessors.

OB Control running is v .284

    Thx.

It sounds very much like emi, although I see that you have taken a lot of sensible precautions already. One thing I usually advise is to connect the wire through your dust hose to mains earth at the end furthest from the machine.
    Alex.

That is one thing I have not done.... the Chokes and Ground wire I am pretty sure you advised me to do those.... If I google GRBL error 9 it says something about GBRL cannot locate and end stop so maybe its a bad wire.. not sure... I will go check my connections. Alternatively I will ditch the PVC and see if that makes any difference. I am not in a position to ground to earth ground quite yet since the ground outside my garage is still frozen.

Only earth the wire through your dust hose at one end - not both. Connecting to the earth connection of your electricity supply should be sufficient - you shouldn't have to put in a new earth connection.

Yeah, I have it grounded to the metal frame of the dust collector. I assume its grounded to electrical but I don't know that for fact.

    edit after...

I have a makita RT701c.... I changed the brushes not sure that made a difference... they were about half worn from what I can tell.... first time I looked at them since buying the router a few years ago.....

I then slapped on three chokes on the mains cord to the router......

So far I have not tripped it again....

I was trying to use the most updated version of OpenBuilds CONTROL and I launched it, it says it is available at 192.168.0.20:3000 but I go to that on my browser, nada. Used an old version from when I know it worked last, and it works. What do I do?

Finally had to give up trying to use the Raspberry Pi 400 seeing as Windows 10 has gotten rid of the Home Network App in its latest build, transferring a newly created gcode file from one computer to the another is darn near impossible and transferring through a USB Stick isn't any better. Raspbian is based on Linux and any type of Storage Drive has to be Mounted before it can even be recognized and the file formats are incompatible to everyone who isn't a Networking Engineer. Sadly, I am not a Networking Engineer in any shape or form.

Pi is not an officially supported platform. If you want a PC-less solution, get an Interface:

I was looking at that but didn't see any more USB ports with which to bring files in from the outside. I prefer to create my files on my Windows 10 Professional Desktop and then bring the straight over on a ZIP Disk.

I transfer my files through the network. My laptop that runs the Cnc is Linux based, I also have a Rpi4 set up for the same job and this method works for both.

    open a command prompt
Change directory to where I saved the gcode, say c:\temp
    Cd \temp
Use secure copy to send the file
    scp filetosend.gcode [email protected]:/home/pi
And it will prompt for the pi password. Of course you need to put in the correct IP address for the Rpi

    Scared of command prompt?
    Use FileZilla https://filezilla-project.org/
Set up a session and reconnecting is easy and transferring files is obvious.

At the moment I have decided to go with the SharpCNC Commander interface that runs GRBL 1.1F and the BlackBox has had no problems recognizing on a Windows Machine. I like that it has everything the bCNC has including Offsets like G55-G59, G38.1 and a Big Red Emergency Stop Button that is easier to hit than the Tiny one in the Openbuilds Controller GUI.

I too like bigger buttons and I've asked already to have the jog options bigger but the Stop Button is for me not a thing. If I have an emergency, by the time I find the mouse, get the curser to go to the button and click on the button, I'm beyond saving. For emergency stop I have TWO physical buttons at the front of my machine that I can hit in a New York Second. :)

Use the keyboard gents. Mice are for the cats. ESCAPE = abort - and the instinctive goto button for Oh... Moments. Customize to your liking from Wizards And Tools menu > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts

Much easier to jog, and run the machine once you get in the habit

I have one too, thing is it doesn't exactly shut everything down or actually do what I want it to. When hit I would sooner have it raise the Z-Axis and cancel all movements by the remaining access.

I run a web server in a container on my windows box. Mount my fusion grbl output folder to the web server html folder and expose the web server's port 80 to something.

Navigate there on the CNC machine. Make a shortcut. Hit refresh whenever there should be a new file.

You could post the log to cl1p.net or pastebin.com and then post the link here.

Might have been a temporary network issue - could not connect properly at the time. Press F5 to try again :)
