    Hello from Paris (FR),

    Please help ,

Since I installed a vfd and a spindle (0.8KW) controlled by PWM, my cnc is weird.

    - it connects well: OK
    - the spindle rotates at the requested speed: OK
    - But after a few seconds the lines scroll

and while openbuild displays that I am still connected, the commands no longer react.
I have to disconnect and reconnect to be able to turn off the spindle.

However, I put ferrites everywhere as you say.
before with the Makita it worked great.

    Sorry for google translate

    Symptoms point to either:

    1) Forgot to do docs:blackbox-x32:install-windows-selective-suspend [OpenBuilds Documentation]
or more likely 2) EMI: docs:blackbox-x32:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation]

    and
Points more at an EMI issue - VFD spindles are horrendous - needs proper earthing, and shielded wiring on the spindle cabling. See EMI FAQ linked ^

oups ....."needs proper earthing, and shielded wiring on the spindle cabling."
    OK
and another quick trip to "amazon":(

my vfd is under the work surface, I think I have to move it away
in any case, a big thank you for your help so quickly, I'm doing all this and "I will be back"

With VFDs spacing sure helps, but if its not earthed, and the 400hz 3 phase AC is running up a long length of 3 core without shielding. And that cord is wrapped in the same cable chain as the low voltage cabling - no amount of Moving the VFD will help :)

    Have a read

Swing arm for the cable, and VFD wired right will get you further

    Bonjour
Je n'ai pas encore reçu le câble blindé
mais quand je l'ai, dois-je mettre le blindage sur la masse du vfd.

    merci

I am having the same issue on my 2 axis lathe build. It will seemingly randomly disconnect in the middle of a cut, the newest issue I am seeing is after finishing the cuts it is programmed in the g code to return to y0 x0 and it will either disconnect during one of these movements or it will continue past one of the preset 0 locations. This is after confirming before the start of the cut that it is starting at the y0 ,x0. I can't place any emi reasons as the setup ran fine for about 2 years in the same configuration.

Check switch wiring. Use troubleshooting tab to test. V+ to GND short on a switch can damage a BlackBox so double check! (Note the warnings on docs:blackbox-x32:connect-xtension-limit [OpenBuilds Documentation]) Shorting v+ to GND cuts the connection too (short on voltage rails, microcontroller doesn't get power, resets)

A good timeframe to consider wire damage yes - check terminals for fraying or loose terminals with cables pulling out, etc.
