Being very new and very ignorant I would ask the significance of the computer OS in relation to the stepper drive. I am using bcnc on a Ubuntu computer. All was well until the spindle drive failed. At that point I became aware that mostly the specs for replacement boards did not mention which os was supported. Some boards only supported windows whilst some supported win and linux. but only a few boards made any mention at all. If its only gcode being passed i via a usb port it seems that if these conditions are met the the computer system is irrelevant. I probably barking up the wrong tree but I need a new board and I am unsure how to select it. Regards and thanks in advance
Most controller doesn't care about the OS. The software you intend using does - for example Vectric only runs on Windows. OpenBuildsCONTROL runs on Win/Linux/Mac, etc Windows is the better choice for the most part though - wider audience - wider test case - more bugs addressed. Better GPU support too
