I asked this question a while back but can't find the thread even in my history. My question is what setting should I be looking for I have an OX CNC using GRBL Arduino CNC Shield and my lead screw on my Z doesn't hold when idle, if my router is on the vibration and gravity pulls it down. Thanks
Is this the one? Ox Router issue When you go to recent activity, you need to click on "show older items".
Lol no you didn't offend I just looked at the date I posted it, it's telling me I need to wrap this up. Really thanks
You could try configuring grbl not to power down steppers when idle. I don’t remember the setting number of the of my head.
Thanks for the help everyone I used the setting to energize the motors and they hold. I calibrated the stepper drivers to the motors. My new question is how much noise should my motors make when they not in uses I get squeal sounds.
It depends on which type of driver you are using. Lower-end such as DRV8825 or a4988 tend to be quite noisy. That’s expected with these types.
I'm using the DRV8825 to start, I'll have to post a video of the sqealing it was enough for me to disable the energized setting while testing other things.
