A few months ago I completed a build of the Ox Cnc, have since realised that building it was the enjoyable part and since have giving it very little us. In the meantime to muddy the waters I purchased a cheap 3D printer off Amazon in kit form. Again I enjoyed the build but the difference is that I have been improving and using it ever since, so much so that I want to build a bigger and better one. I was wondering that if I broke down the Ox could I utilise some of the parts? as I am loathed to go through all the hassle of selling it. Has anyone else done this? if so your suggestions would be of great interest. Cheers Guys
You can pretty much use all of the parts, that's the beauty of OpenBuilds parts. You will probably want to swap out the belts and pulleys for GT2 however to get better print resolution. Show us what you come up with.
Thanks, thats encouraging. So apart fro.m belts and pulleys I presume on the mechanical side all I need is the hot end, extruder and heat bed. I have those but the heat bed will be too small, presumerably you can get bigger.
Best suggestion would be to peruse the builds on this part of the forum and figure out which suits your fancy the most. Then sketch up where you're headed and you will probably get plenty of feedback to help you get there. BTW, if you're going to need any specialty plates cut for your new system, it's best to come to that realization before you take your Ox apart.
