    Hello

My machine has been idle for a bit, I determined I was asking too much out of the 1605 ball screws for speed, so ordered and waited for the 1610's, which showed up a couple days ago, and I made the screw swap.

Black Box was connecting, and running prior to the swap, idle for a couple weeks. When I turned machine on, it wanted to force a update. After the update, I can't connect on COM-5. It tries, then comes back that the ports closed. COM-5 looks good on the computer. I also noticed my light indicating the motor connection is not lit up either.

I didn't change any wiring other than unplugging, and re-plugging in motors. All motors and homing switches are plugged in, checked the power wiring, tried a different USB port. Only change I can determine was the software update? Searched the forum, most issues are getting the initial connection, I had that.

I was thinking about removing Control, and re-installing.

    Thoughts?

Thread from Peter I searched up. Good logic. I’ll try the steps and report back

Well, the OpenBuildsCONTROL update is very unlikely to be the cause for that. So lets look at the next points:
    1) Make sure you are connecting to the correct port in the dropdown (if there are more than one port, sometimes you can select the wrong port for example a serialport like COM1/2/3 on the Motherboard of your PC instead of the virtual comport of the USB device.
    2) Disconnect all wiring, except USB, for a test: Incorrectly wired accesories can randomly prevent the board from booting up correctly. If it works without wiring, check your wiring against docs.openbuilds.com
    3) Make sure you did install the correct drivers: OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation and also did disable USB Selective Suspend: OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation
    4) If the above does not help, try the firmware flashing tool under Wizards and Tools

Worked through everything above, no success yet. The box will not accept the flashing tool. Says the flash failed. Nothing wired up.

Plugged in my other black box. This one connects successfully. No problem connecting that one. So certainly not the software.

It's something I'm doing, or something on my end for sure with the new box. I have two identical desktops, so tried a different computer and the same results, old box connects, new one does not. But what gets me is it did,,,about two weeks ago.

But running the new machine with old box, and new 1610's. It's pretty awesome.
