I will make 8mm. hols with a 6mm. mil, but they are not round. My machine is controlled by Black Box which is connected to a PC or Interface, but with the same result. Where and how can I fix the problem?
Mechanical. Loose "something". Hold endmill, give it a wiggle. Follow unwanted movement, and tighten the source of the wiggle
Post your settings a test file here, could be settings or the drawing might be turning circles into hexagons for example. Cheers Gary
Hey It is not Deskproto that causes this problem, but your drawing program. I myself have been using Deskproto for four years now. It is comprehensive and easy to learn. Good luck. Bert
Nice to know Bert, I'm new to DeskProto, but well satisfied. I use Dev Wing Mold as a drawing program, for glider wings and the small 8mm. holes are for guide pins in the molds, therefore it is important that they are precise. And I see that Palle have the same problem in VCarve.
Is there a way to mark centers and call out the hole size in the cam? some cam programs can do this. Gary
Hello Kaj, You should actually give Inkscape a try. It is free to download from www.inkscape.org and is a very good program. I use it for all my drawings and I have already made about 500 with it. By the way, you can also use this to convert an image from the internet to a vector that you then convert in Deskproto to a Gcode. Give it a try. Good luck Bert

Are you drawing in DeskProto directly then. Not a DXF import or similar? In that case, check what Post you are using, and its parameters. Why is it exporting circles as G1 segments instead of G2/3 Arcs, etc
So the above doesn't answer the question, but can we assume the STL is imported? Because the STL holes (as all STLs are based of triangulated segments) does not contain round holes. Its segments, at a very low resolution:

Hello Kaj / Peter, you cannot draw in Deskproto. You can import DXF files or grayscale images. From there you can then create your Gcode. If you use Inkscape you get a clean round hole instead of a segmented hole. Bert

I think he is carving 3D molds for glider wings, would be difficult to do in inkscape.. BTW many options for accurate dimensional 2D drawing out there (free as well). I'm using NanoCAD because I learned 30 years ago how to use autocad so this was no learning curve. As for the perfect round hole, it is just a matter of having enough segments that the pin will fit. Has now fine adjusted GRBL. And the result is seen on attachment. 100mm.x100mm. and Ø60 is on target, (this is where the adjustment is made) but 30x30mm and Ø8mm are not. ?? It is on two different drawings 100x100 and 30x30.
I promised to be back when I managed to mill round 8mm.holes. Attached are 1 file showing how it can be done in DeskProto CAM. 4mm. mill and as small values, in "Distance between toolparths" and "Stepsize along toolparth", as possible.
