problem with my black box usb --- problem solved

Good morning,
I turned my computer/Black Box on this morning and there was no recognition of the usb port (waiting for usb) in the connection menu.
I unplugged the usb connection, machine and BB, same result.
I restarted the computer and I am now getting a windows explorer error message the usb device has malfunctioned and is no longer recognized by windows.
I have tested the computer port with a couple of peripherals and it appears to be working.
Is there a way to troubleshoot the Black Box to tell if that is where the malfunction is?
