I just recently acquired a used 4x8 generic chinese machine and while it absolutely works, using mach 3 and an extremely old computer leave a LOT to be desired. I came from a LEAD 1515 machine and i just needed to be able to cut full sheets. I was wondering if there is any way i can retrofit my machine. It looks like the steppers are 5amp rated and the steppers are about double the size of the openbuids ones. I believe this is the one that the machine is running currently. 44.18US $ |85BYGH450B 06D 15J (New Model 86BHH114 500A 32E) 60kg.cm(6.8N.m) 5A shaft 12.7mm*32mm Nema34 2 Phase stepper motor with 4 wires|hybrid stepper motor|2 phase stepper motorstepper motor - AliExpress ANY thoughts or help would be amazing. Two questions, does your system not already have individual drivers and what voltage are the steppers being driven off of?
It does have individual drivers. Forgive me if this isn’t the information you’re wanting but it has two puls cp20 power supplies and two cw250 stepper motor drivers.
There should be four. One for each motor. At what output voltage? Overall, this is a question beyond my skill set. But it sounds like all you really need is a processor board which could be as simple as an Arduino to any of a number of more complex models. Be prepared for a fairly steep learning curve to get this going. Should be worthwhile once you get it there but you're going to have to dig in fairly deep to make it happen. Good luck.
