You mean with Openbuilds CAM? I don't know of a tutorial...... I would just lie to it about the bit size for the roughing. This is the equivalent of 'radial stock to leave'. So if the bit is 4mm in diameter and I tell the software it is 5mm, it will leave 0.5mm uncut. Same with depth, just reduce the depth (material thickness for through cuts) to give the effect of 'axial stock to leave'. I would save this setup and make a copy, then change the copy for the final pass stuff where I would remove the lies and generate new Gcode for the finishing process. since there is now much less material to remove maybe I can increase depth of cut or increase feedrate or both.
Correct, in the name of simplicity we dont give users the option of finishing passes, etc. David's technique will work though OpenBuilds CAM is beginner software, easy to use, but cut down on features to keep things simple. If you are doing advanced work, try SketchuCAM, Fusion360 or other more suitable CAM solutions
Good to know Peter. Thanks for the Info. That is a good suggestion Daved I will look into that. Thanks all for the input.
