Hello, i have a Lead 1010 machine im modifying to have a second z-axis. awhile back when i emailed openbuilds about this idea, they said two motors could be run in parallel. (not using the slave axis) running them in parallel reduces their torque, would turning up the trim pot for that axis be appropriate? the motors being used are the regular nema 23's i assume turning up the pot all the way, would not bring them back to their original strength, but im guessing it'll help.
Yes you can turn it up a bit, but just watch that the drivers doesn't overheat (dial back a bit if they do) See docs:blackbox:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] You won't get full torque, but you also don't need full torque. A stepper should be dialed in with just enough torque that it doesn't stall out under normal use (with an extra 10% or so margin). Setting fullscale current limits top speed (more Back EMF being generated) and overheats things
