Hi All, Are there any free design resources for hot wire machine ? I'm struggling to find a good source for the designs. Most designs need to have z axis movement for coming out of foam, but in a simple wire cutter that's not possible. Cheers Ritu
What are you going to cut? Unless it's the same thickness all the time you will need to go up and down every time you change the thickness. 2 axis hot wire machines are plenty on the web if you look but most have two controls for the up and down to make complicated shapes, some have two controllers on the forward/backward axis too but you can just eliminate the second controller on each axis and then you can cut rectangle foam of different sizes all day long.
is your machine something like this? CNC Hot Wire, CNC Router, RC Airplanes and 3D printing - rcKeith
Oh sorry... Thats not what I meant. Sometimes not being a native speaker plays it on me By design resources, I meant free sample vector images which can be used for cutting out the designs. At present I use inkscape, but it becomes tedious to open all closed paths in the design, as wire can not be brought out of foam. So are there any websites which give out designs which do not have closed paths ?
